China’s imports of luxury, big-sized SUV may surge 45% this year, analysts say

Shanghai. January 31 (Gasgoo.com) – China’s imports of large, luxury SUV vehicles will continue to surge 45 percent this year, analysts said.
 
World premium SUV maker Land Rover sold 6,573 SUV vehicles in Chinese market last year, up 143 percent from one year earlier.
 
Freelander 2 was launched in Chinese market in last April. By the end of last year, Land Rover sold 2,318 Freelander 2 vehicles. Land Rover also sold 2,275 Discovery 3 vehicles and 1,103 Range Rover vehicles last year.
 
Christopher Brown, general manager of Jaguar and Land Rover China, said all Land Rover models had achieved better-than-expected sales in 2007. Brown expected to carry the momentum into 2008.
 
In January, Lexus LX570 and Cadillac SRX were introduced to Chinese market. Together with X350、RX400h, Lexus now has three major luxury SUV vehicles sold in Chinese market.
 
New 2008 LX 570 full-size luxury utility vehicle is priced at 1.3 million yuan ($179,000), about $100,000 more expensive than in North American market.
 
Cadillac SRX, a luxury crossover SUV, will be available in two editions, of which the SRX 3.6L will be priced at 628,000 yuan ($86,469) to 698,000 yuan ($96,108) depending on different configurations, while SRX4.6L V8 model will be priced at 828,000 yuan ($114,007).
