China imported 139,900 sedans in 2007, up 25.13% Y/Y

Shanghai. February 1 (Gasgoo.com) – China imported 139,900 sedans last year, up 25.13 percent from one year earlier and sedan accounts for 45 percent of China’s total vehicle imports, according to the latest statistics released by China Customs.
 
The total value sedans China imported last year reached $5.01 billion, which accounts for 47 percent of China’s total vehicle imports. The total value of imported sedan last year grew 25.41 percent from one year earlier.

In 2007, China imported a total number of 93,100 units of large displacement vehicles (2.5 liter and up), which represents 67 percent of China’s total sedan imports last year. The total value of these imported sedans reached $3.962 billion in U.S. dollars, which accounts for 70 percent of China’s total sedan imports last year.
 
Germany is No. 1 supplier of imported sedans in Chinese market. Last year, China imported 63,800 sedans from Germany, which represents 46 percent of China’s total sedan imports. Meanwhile, China imported 29,700 sedans from Japan and 18,000 from the United States.
 
Germany, Japan and the United States exported 111,500 sedans to Chinese market last year, which represents 80 percent of all imported sedans in the market.
