China imported 142,200 SUV vehicles in 2007, up 64.91% year-on-year

Shanghai. February 2 (Gasgoo.com) – China imported a total number of 142,200 Sport Utility Vehicles last year, an increase of 64.91 percent from one year earlier, according to a report released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
 
The total value of all SUV vehicles China imported last year amounted to $4.374 billion, up 72.3 percent from one year earlier.
 
The table below illustrates details of each segment of China’s imported SUVs last year.

Imported SUV vehicles in the above three segments amount to 135,200 units, which represents 95 percent of all SUV vehicles China imported last year.
 
Of all SUV vehicles China imported last year, there are 4,476 diesels SUV with displacement between 1.5 liter and 2.5 liter, an increase of 300 percent from one year earlier; and there are 1,140 are diesels SUV with displacement larger than 2.5 liter, an increase of 250 percent from one year earlier.
 
In 2007 China imported 66,800 SUV vehicles from Japan, which accounts for 47 percent of China’s total SUV imports. Following Japan, South Korea exported 28,700 SUV vehicles and the United States exported 15,700 SUVs to China last year.
 
Altogether China imported a total amount of 111,200 SUV vehicles from Japan, South Korea and the United States last year, which represents 78 percent of China’s total SUV imports.
