Peugeot 407 and Peugeot 607 not to be made locally

Shanghai, May 22 (Gasgoo.com) With Platform 3 to operate in June next year, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA) will also introduce to China a new Peugeot model along with its world premiere. It is reported that Peugeot 407 and Peugeot 607, the top grade Peugeot models, will not be made locally.

Peugeot 407

The first Peugeot model produced by the third platform will be larger and more high-end than the existing Peugeot 407. The new Peugeot model will be at the same level with Peugeot 407 and will go on sale in China next year, told Tang Teng, general manager of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile.

Peugeot 607

Although Peugeot 407 and Peugeot 607 have been in the Chinese market for years, industry insiders still don't think the two models are suitable for local production. Long inspection by DPCA has shown that locally produced Peugeot 407 and 607 don’t appeal to Chinese consumers.
