Shanghai, May 28 (Gasgoo.com) China's finance and commerce ministries issued a new notification on May 26 that specifies the extents and levels of subsidy for this year's scrapped old vehicles in the country. The subsidy ranges from 4,000 yuan ($575) to 15,000 yuan for voluntarily selling or surrendering an old vehicle to the scrapping center in 2008.

The notice says that 10,000 yuan will be subsidized the selling to an auto recycling center in 2008 of a passenger vehicle (for 23 or more people) measuring 7.5 meters long or longer, registered on any date between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2004.

At least 4,000 yuan will be paid for the selling to an auto recycling center in 2008 of a rural bus measuring between 4.8 to 7.5 meters long, registered on any date between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2001 and with a life span of seven to nine years.

Up to 15,000 yuan will be paid for the selling to an auto recycling center in 2008 of a city bus measuring 9 meters long or longer, registered in 2008 and its emissions meeting the national IV standards.

A truck or trailer (excluding the non-motor-trailer) that weighs 12,000kg or heavier can get 4,000 yuan when it is sold to the recycling center.

Owners of old vehicles of those kinds are eligible to apply for the relevant subsidy by showing the "selling-a-vehicle-for-recycling" certificate at the vehicle authorities.
