2017 Ford C-Max Gets New Titanium Trim, Lower Starting Price

From MotorTrend| December 08 , 2016 16:56 BJT

Along with the rest of Ford’s small car lineup, sales of the C-Max are down by double digits so far this year. To sweeten the pot just a little, the automaker is lowering prices and adding a range-topping Titanium model.

The 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi start at $24,995 and $27,995 respectively, before available deals and tax credits. Those prices represent a $50 price drop from the 2016 C-Max Hybrid, and a whopping $4,650 drop for the Energi.

Available on both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid C-Max, the Titanium package adds specially designed wheels, leather-trimmed seats, and 10-way power passenger seat with lumbar. A hands-free, foot-activated liftgate feature is available. The SEL trim on the C-Max Hybrid is gone.

It’s hard to tell, but Ford made a few adjustments to the exterior sheetmetal. The upper grille opening is smaller, and the headlights are also a bit more subdued. Out, the taillights are redesigned, taking on a slightly more angular shape. For 2017, buyers can opt for a new White Gold paint job.

Other than these small changes, the C-Max lineup remains pretty much the same. The C-Max Hybrid features a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a combined 188 hp. It has a 1.4 kilowatt-hour battery pack. The Energi plug-in features the same engine and makes the same combined 188 hp, but has a larger 7.6 kW-hr battery. Projected EV range and fuel economy have not yet been listed for this model, but they’re likely to remain the same as last year (19 miles, 88 mpge).
