Ford's sales rise 17% in November on strength of trucks
Ford Motor Co.'s deliveries in China advanced 17 percent from a year earlier to 124,113 vehicles in November on robust demand for trucks.
Sales of Jiangling Motor Corp., Ford's commercial vehicle joint venture, surged 29 percent last month to 26,285 vehicles.
Jiangling Motor produces the Ford Everest SUV, Tourneo multipurpose vehicle and Transit van as well as JMC-brand light trucks, SUVs and pickups.
Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ford's passenger car partnership, reported a sales increase of 14 percent last month to 96,191 vehicles. The joint venture got a boost from two crossovers: Ford Explorer sales jumped 73 percent, while Edge deliveries rose 21 percent.
Changan Ford builds Ford sedans, crossovers and SUVs.
In November, Ford also sold 1,637 imported vehicles in China, surging 45 percent from a year earlier.
In the first 11 months, Ford and its two joint ventures sold 1.09 million vehicles in China, up 5 percent from the same period last year.
Because of weak results this year, Ford has not kept pace with industry light-vehicle sales, which have risen 15 percent in the first 10 months.
