Geely, JD.com form strategic partnership in IoV area

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com and Geely formed a strategic partnership recently that will cooperate in such areas like intelligent connection, auto e-commerce and auto aftermarket service to provide consumers with IoV (Internet of vehicle) services. 

Li Kefeng, vice president of JD.com, said that the cooperation with Geely showed that JD.com has officially entered into IoV field. It will adequately exercise its technical advantages in AI, big data, smart home, IoT (Internet of things) and e-commerce service, etc., to bring auto industry with more intelligent scenarios.

On the same day, Geely launched its new SUV model, the 2018 Boyue, which is China's first intelligent-connected model using the JD.com's intelligent IoV solution. A driver can control its home facilities in vehicle by connecting great numbers of data from home facilities with the vehicle's computing system.

JD.com will build an organic whole that achieves the seamless circulation between services and products based on JD.com's mature technical advantages in AI, IoT, AR/VR and big data areas, such as speech recognition, speech interaction, natural language understanding, graphics identification.

To be specific, by connecting the vehicle computing system with JD.com's IoT open platform, a vehicle owner is able to check and remotely control its vehicle's conditions at home like heating the vehicle or turning on the in-vehicle air conditioners in advance. 

Referring to the practical applications on auto e-commerce, JD. com can meet drivers' on-line transaction demands by providing the one-click-shopping function. For instance, drivers can purchase automobile consumables like glass cleaner, engine oil, wet tissue with only one click in the vehicle.

As to the auto aftermarket service, JD.com will proffer its partners numerous products on JD.com's platform such as auto parts, in-vehicle facilities, etc.
