FAW-Volkswagen May sales rise 6.3% year on year
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW-Volkswagen delivered 163,016 vehicles (including imported Audis) with a YoY increase of 6.3% in May. Sales of Volkswagen reached 111,516 units, up 5.6% from a year earlier, while Audi's May sales (including imported vehicles) reached 51,500 units with a YoY growth of 7.7%.
As to Volkswagen brand, the Bora boasted the most robust growth momentum with deliveries reaching 21,343 units, soaring 30% over the previous year in May. The Magotan, an outstanding B-class model in the Chinese market, continued its growth momentum with deliveries of 19,979 units in May, up 6.3% year on year.
In addition, the Golf family posted a YoY sale growth of 1.8% to 17,195 units in May. With deliveries of 24,005 units, the Jetta led the pack among FAW-Volkswagen's all models.
In terms of Audi brand, sales of the A4L and A6L reached 12,914 units and 11,411 units respectively. Particularly, the A4L posted substantial sales growth of 53.6% compared to the same period last year. As to Audi SUV sales, sales of the Q5 reached 9.893 units in May, while the Q3’s sales totaled 6,488 units, which is a slight drop compared with April.
In the next few months, Volkswagen and Audi will launch a variety of all-new and upgraded models. Apart from the Volkswagen T-ROC, the all-new Volkswagen Arteon and the Audi Q5L, the all-new Bora will be launched soon. Volkswagen will also launch its advanced mid-size SUV, which is likely to be named as TAYRON. Moreover, Audi brand will also launch the all-new Q2L and Q8 to consolidate its advantages in this segment.
