Honda gains 8th-month-in-a-row growth in China sales as of October

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Honda has been achieving year-on-year growth in China retail sales for eight consecutive months as of October, 2019.

The Japanese automaker said it delivered 147,716 vehicles last month in the world's largest auto market, up by 6.5% from a year ago. Both joint ventures gained rising performance as well—GAC Honda saw its deliveries edge up 1.1% to 67,992 units, while Dongfeng Honda boasted a double-digit increase of 11.6% with 79,724 vehicles sold.

For the first ten months, Honda's China retail sales reached 1,271,286 units, jumping 15.2% over the year-ago period, versus the 16.4% growth in the Jan.-Sept. number.

With 629,140 vehicles delivered between Jan. and Oct., GAC Honda clocked a growth of 7.9%. Meanwhile, Dongfeng Honda boasted a year-over-year increase of 23.3%, delivering 642,146 units in total.

In October, there were a total of six models whose respective deliveries all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the Accord, the Crider, the Vezel, the Civic, the CR-V and XR-V, according to Honda's China unit. Notably, the Civic got its retail sales exceeding 20,000 units for five straight months.

Besides, the combined sales of the hybrid models of the Accord, the Odyssey, the CR-V, the Inspire and the Elysion amounted to 15,373 units, jumping 15.85% compared with the previous month.

Both joint ventures put their first BEV models onto market in recent days. The X-NX, the milestone one for Dongfeng Honda, went on sale on October 30 with its two variants priced RMB169,800 and RMB1798,000 respectively after subsidy. Just one day later, GAC Honda’s first all-electric model, the VE-1 SUV, hit the market with three trim levels. Their participation makes Honda form a complete product deployment in China covering fuel-burning, hybrid and all-electric models.
