Geely’s all-new mid-sized SUV named “Haoyue”, to go on sale in 2020

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Geely Automobile officially announced on Jan. 10 the Chinese name of its all-new mid-sized SUV model code-named “VX11”. Dubbed “Haoyue”, the fire-new model has been seen by the public through a photo the automaker released at the same time.

As we know, Geely always uses “Yue” as the second Chinese character of its SUVs' name. Staring with “Hao”, whose one of meanings in Chinese is “heroic”, the name embodies the company's ambition to take a stride forward to a heroic future. The new vehicle is said to hit the market in 2020.

Before unveiling the name, followers of Geely's WeChat account were intrigued by a set of Morse code offered in a video. Clearly, the unique but obscure method didn't scare off them. Quite a few followers still decoded the puzzle, according to the comments.

At the front, the “Haoyue” still adopts Geely's signature design language of “expanding cosmos“, while the new black badge adds volume to the vehicle's distinction. The U-shaped grille flanked by polygonal headlights creates a multi-layered perception.

In terms of the side profile, the vehicle looks quite sporty and masculine thanks to the high center of gravity and the muscle lines at the wheelhouse. The straight and flat roof signals spacious headroom for passengers.

Based on the patent images from China's MIIT, located the rear is a chrome trim connecting taillights, to some extent underlining the SUV’s width.

The new vehicle measures 4,835mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,780mm high, and has a wheelbase that spans 2,815 units.

The information registered in the MIIT reveals that the “Haoyue” will offer two types of engines—the 1.8T engine is good for 184hp and the 1.5T can produce up to 177hp.
