Gotion High-Tech starts constructing eighth battery manufacturing base

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Gotion High-Tech, China's No.3 battery maker, celebrated on July 20 the first spade cut for its battery manufacturing base in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to a posting on the company's WeChat account.

Prior to the Liuzhou base, Gotion High-Tech has already had seven battery production bases in Hefei, Qingdao, Tangshan, Nanjing and Nantong. The new base will be operated by Liuzhou Guoxuan Battery Co.,Ltd. (Liuzhou Guoxuan), a sub-subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech.

The battery manufacturer announced on January 19 that it had struck a deal with Liuzhou's local government for the investment in building a power battery manufacturing base with an annual capacity of 10GWh.

Covering an area of 400 mu (266,666 square meters), the Liuzhou base will be equipped with battery cell production workshops, battery pack assembly workshops, warehouses and other supporting facilities, according to the agreement. The whole construction is set to be conducted in two phases, of which the first one should be completed within 15 months.

According to Xu Xingwu, executive vice president of Gotion High-Tech' Engineering Research Institute, the Liuzhou base will primarily produce lithium ion soft packs with the 390 or 590 soft package modules to be made first.

Liuzhou Guoxuan will attach more importance in the future to offering power battery system adaptive to various automobile platforms of the clients like SAIC-GM-Wuling, and carrying out industrial cooperation in the battery lifecycle applications. Its products will cover Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong and surrounding markets, and even influence Southeast Asian market (Gotion High-Tech's WeChat account).
