EV startup Skyworth Auto puts NEV model EV6 onto market

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese EV startup Skyworth Auto announced on Tuesday its fire new SUV model EV6 hit the market. The new model currently offers four all-electric trim levels, which are priced between 152,800 yuan ($23,480) to 249,800 ($38,390) after subsidies.

At the same time, the EV6 will come with a full-electric variant with a NEDC-rated range of 600km (the EV6-600+) and a hybrid electric version (the EV6-HTi), which are expected for delivery in the first and third quarters next year respectively. Presale has already kicked off.

The Skyworth EV6 size is 4,698/1,908/1,696mm with a 2,800-mm wheelbase, which positions it as a mid-sized SUV. It is driven by an electric motor that churns out up to 150kW and 320 N·m, and can zip from 0-100km/h within 7.9 seconds.

Powered by a 55.33kWh battery pack, the base model features a NEDC range of 410km. The other three versions all have a maximum range of 520km thanks to the 71.98kWh battery pack. Customers can also upgrade to an 88kWh battery which provides a 600km range.

Power details of the hybrid electric version still remain under hood.

The new model was initially known under the name of ET5. Perhaps the carmaker renamed the vehicle to avoid confusion with NIO's ET5.

Skyworth Auto said there are some changes between ET5 and EV6, but they are mainly in the interior. The EV6 carries the SKYLINK infotainment supplied by Skyworth Group, a Chinese home appliances giant.

It is worth noting that Sky-well New Energy Automobile Group Co. Ltd., a Nanjing-based new energy vehicle maker, announced in April 27 its electric passenger vehicle brand “Skywell” was renamed to “Skyworth Auto”. Skywell unveiled its first car, namely, the ET5, in October 2020.
