BYD’s vehicle sales surge 335% YoY in Feb. 2022 thanks to NEV sales spike
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited (“BYD”) scored a 335.22% year-on-year hike in February 2022, which stood at 91,078 units, according to the company's latest monthly sales results.
Mainly due to the Spring Festival holiday, BYD saw its Feb. sales fall 4.55% compared to the previous month.
New energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for up to 96.9% of BYD's total vehicles sales in February. The sector boasted a robust year-on-year surge of up to 752.56%, which directly resulted in the upward movement in BYD’s total sales.
The sales of new energy passenger vehicles in Feb. soared 764.1% to 87,473 units, which were nearly 50/50 contributed by the all-electric and plug-in electric vehicle units.

With only 2,795 units sold, the oil-fueled vehicle sector still logged a steep two-digit year-over-year drop.
As for the year-to-date performance, BYD sold 186,500 new vehicles to achieve a 194.5% increase. The NEV sector was still the only driver to the overall growth.
The installed capacity of NEV power battery and energy storage battery of the company in Feb. 2022 was approximately 4.615GWh. The cumulative installed capacity for the year 2022 was around 9.385GWh.
