CATL seizes 48.02% share of China’s Feb. power battery installed capacity
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In February 2022, China's power battery outputs reached 31.8GWh, soaring 236.2% year on year, while also rising 7.1% month on month, according to the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).
Of the power batteries produced last month, 11.6GWh and 20.1GWh were ternary-lithium batteries and lithium phosphate batteries, up 127.1% and 364.1% from the year-ago period respectively.
For the first two months of 2022, power battery outputs in China surged 185.7% to 61.4GWh, 22.5GWh and 38.8GWh of which were ternary-lithium and lithium phosphate batteries.
The CAPBIIA's data show that China's power battery installed capacity reached 13.7GWh in February 2022, soaring 145.1% from the year-ago period, while falling 15.5% over the previous month. The cumulative installed capacity of the year leapt 109.7% to 29.9GWh.
Regarding Feb. power battery installed capacity, the top 3 players were CATL, BYD, and CALB, accounting for 77.7% of the country's total capacity. CATL was still the champion with an installed capacity of 6.57GWh, making up 48.02% share. BYD recorded a capacity of 2.9GWh, up to 97.9% of which were from lithium phosphate batteries. CALB ranked third by taking an 8.44% market share, while it was the runner-up in terms of Feb. ternary-lithium battery installed capacity.
With regard to the year-to-date power battery installed capacity, the top 10 battery makers made up 94.68% of the country's total volume. Of them, CATL and BYD topped others by grabbing up to 79.29% market share in total.
