The document mentioned to further optimize the technology standard system of the auto industry during the 14th five-year period (2021-2025) and continue to perfect the guidelines of a standard system in crucial territories, including new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles, and automotive chips.

Specifically, new energy-wise, the MIIT encourages the revision of the safety-related standards on power storage batteries, and fuel-cell electric vehicles after collisions. Battery-swapping-related standards also need to be revised.

As to the automotive intelligence fields, the MIIT will conduct research on automakers' demands for auto-grade chips, and chip suppliers’ technical capabilities to facilitate a standard system on automotive chips. Meanwhile, the MIIT aims to promote the standard study and project approval of MCU control chips, perception chips, communication chips, security chips, computing chips, and new energy vehicle-dedicated chips.

Additionally, the MIIT encourages the construction of a cooperation mechanism across industries and specific segments. The ministry aims to reinforce the planning and coordination of the different standards in each field, including electric vehicle charging, automotive chips, and intelligent connected vehicles, elevating openness and transparency across industries.
