Nissan March sales drop 32.6% YoY in China

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Nissan Motor’s March sales volume in China saw an overall decline, but sales of the ALTIMA and Qashqai hit a new high regarding the models' first-quarter sales, Nissan Motor reported on April 8th.

With COVID and raw material shortages continuing to poison the industry, in the third month of 2022, Nissan Motor sold 87,902 vehicles in China, dropping 32.6% year on year. From January to March, the accumulative sales volume of the automaker amounted to 298,863 vehicles, indicating a 15.2% decline from a year ago.

In March, Nissan Motor’s passenger vehicle joint venture, Dongfeng Motor Co. & Ltd. (DFL) sold 67,910 vehicles (including Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti brands), down 33.5% compared to 2021. For the first three months this year, the accumulative sales volume of DFL amounted to 242,931 vehicles, decreasing 16.9% year on year. 

However, the seventh-generation ALTIMA model refreshed the company’s first-quarter sales record with 40,686 vehicles sold from January to March, increasing 14% from a year ago. Furthermore, the Qashqai SUV also managed to set a new sales record in the period, with 41,675 vehicles sold, up 3% year on year. 

Additionally, Nissan Motor sold 19,992 commercial vehicles in March, 29.5% less than 2021. For the first three months of 2022, the accumulative sales volume of commercial vehicles amounted to 55,932 vehicles, down 6.7% year over year.
