Buick CUV Enclave to be available in China in Q4

From China Knowledge| August 08 , 2008 10:04 BJT

General Motors Corp, the largest foreign passenger car maker in China, has won license to sell its a full-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV) Enclave in the Chinese market as early as the fourth quarter of this year, as per industry sources.

Enclave CUV, which is built at GM's Lansing Delta Township assembly plant, will make their way by means of Shanghai GM and be sold through more than 400 franchisers across China.

The new model is reportedly priced at RMB 500,000 a unit, which is likely to rise based on the new consumption taxation policy. However, there is no official comment on the price so far.

Buick sells more vehicles in China than any other parts of the world, with the country consuming over half of all Buicks worldwide.

The U.S.-based auto maker said last month that its sales growth for the first six months of this year was 14%, down 5% year on year largely because of the fierce competition from its major rivals Volkswagen AG and Toyota Motor Corp.
