Imported car market is expected to grow 10% '07

According to the latest customs statistics, China's imported auto reached 229,000 vehicles in 2006; an increase of 41%, the amount of imports (including chassis) totaled 7.52 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 47%.  What are the characteristics of China's import car market in 2006? What will the trend be for China's import car market in 2007? Recently a reporter interviewed Ding Hongxiang, general manager of China Auto Imports Trade Center.

"Generally speaking, China's import car market showed six features in 2006: First, China's import car market tide over the five years of WTO transitional period; Secondly, The government on the management of imported cars gradually shift from direct management to indirect guide and standardize oriented management; Thirdly, China's car imports grew rapidly in 2006; Fourth, further deepen the interaction of imported cars and domestically made; Fifth, MNCs directly entered into the China imported market, and are dominant on the supply, pricing, network control of the import car market; Sixth, with the rapid growth of China's auto import and export, China's auto industry is integrating rapidly into the world auto industry chain.
