Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Jan. 15, NIO shipped the NIO OS Aspen 3.1.0 to users in China with the English-version user interface newly added to attract more expatriates in the country.

According to NIO, the existing 3.0.5 version and above can be upgraded to the newest 3.1.0 through OTA.

The latest NIO OS update focuses on the design of user interface, NOMI, and the enhancement for users' driving experience.

Of the fresh updates, the most eye-catching change should be the offering of an English user interface, which dispels misgivings of English-speaking users who intend to buy NIO's car, but are prevented by the language obstacle.

The Aspen 3.1.0 supports the shift between dark- and light-colored user interfaces based on the time of sunrise and sunset, in order to offer an experience more friendly to users' eyes.

The newest system enables users to unlock their cars using Bluetooth of their mobile phones, so as to put their worries about poor Internet reception to rest.

The Bluetooth connection can also be used for short-distance car smart summon.

As for what is new to NOMI, NIO's in-car voice assistant, the latest upgrade allows users to wake it up and issue voice commands at the same time, instead of waiting for NOMI's response before offering commands.

In last August, NIO released a new naming system for its intelligent operating systems. NIO OS adopts the “Aspen” software architecture for models based on the NT1.0 platform, including the NIO ES8, ES6, and EC6. For models riding on the NT2.0 platform, including the ET7 and subsequent models, the architecture adopted is named “Banyan”.
