Pony.ai delivers autonomous driving controller sample powered by NVIDIA
Beijing (Gasgoo)- On June 22nd, Pony.ai announced the delivery of a sample of its NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion and DRIVE Orin-powered autonomous driving controller (ADC), which would start volume production in the last quarter of 2022.

The ADC comes in two versions, with a single Orin chip or with two Orin chips, offering a respective computing power of 254TOPS and 508TOPS. Leveraging the ADC and Pony.ai’s autonomous driving software and hardware, vehicles can realize multiple intelligent driving functions even on busy urban streets and highways, including car-following and lane merging in congested traffic, navigation-led autonomous lane changing, overtaking/bypassing, U-turns at intersections, traffic light recognition, detour, VRU recognition and treatment, ramp passing, and automated toll booth passing.
Pony.ai has kicked off road tests for autonomous vehicles powered by the Orin chip since January this year. Its autonomous fleet will use the chip as central computing and AI engine.
The company is one of the first autonomous driving developers to build different domain controller combinations on top of NVIDIA DRIVE Orin and NVIDIA Ampere. The product fusion will help Pony.ai achieve its vision of “virtual drivers”
In January 2022, Pony.ai unveiled its six-generation L4 auto-grade autonomous driving software/hardware solution, which is also powered by the Orin chip. The first vehicle to be deployed with the system is the Toyota S-AM (Sienna Autono-MaaS). The S-AM will start road test in China within the year, and be put into Robotaxi operation in the first half of 2023.
