In an effort to promote the mass application of autonomous driving technologies, Pony.ai has came up with production-ready high-speed and urban NOA solutions based on Horizon Robotics’ Journey 5 chip and its own 6-year autonomous driving data accumulation. Among them, the sample vehicle equipped with the Journey 5 chip has sailed through the high-speed NOA road test in 2022.
It is expected that Pony.ai’s integrated driving/parking solution enabled with high-speed NOA, memory parking, and active safety functions will be officially launched by the second quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, the complete urban NOA solution will also be officially introduced to the public within the year.
According to Pony.ai, its proprietary BEV perception algorithm large model can identify various types of obstacles, lane lines, passable areas, and other information, achieving high-speed NOA function with only the standard navigation map in the absence of high-precision map. By squeezing the sensor performance, the company incorporated the fisheye camera into the BEV driving perception model, reducing the reliance on the number of sensors, and only using 6 cameras and 1 millimeter-wave radar.
When challenged with complex urban road conditions, the dual-Journey 5 chip-powered platform can further realize urban NOA and autonomous valet parking functions by adding one LiDAR unit to the solution.
