Specifically, the OTA update introduced four new features, optimized 16 experiences, and enhanced over 20 basic experiences. Of particular interest, the urban NGP function is officially available in Shenzhen through this OTA.
XPeng has been actively promoting the deployment of its urban NGP system and launched a pilot project in Guangzhou last September. According to XPeng’s previous plans, it aims to gradually expand the functionality of urban NGP to Shanghai and Shenzhen through the G9 and P5 production models in the first half of this year.
The launch of the urban NGP function in this update holds such capabilities as intelligent recognition of traffic lights by lane, automatic start and stop, and proactive avoidance of pedestrians, vehicles, and roadblocks based on fused perception of LiDAR, handling complex situations like dense traffic during peak hours, and the presence of various non-motorized vehicles.
In addition to the urban NGP function in Shenzhen, the update also adjusted the high-speed NGP speed-limit, allowing the P5 to prioritize the set speed during cruising. Furthermore, the upgrade also included enhancements to the the LCC function such as the addition of a 360-degree panoramic image shortcut.
