Baidu Apollo unveils next-gen 3D lane-level intelligent map

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 7, Baidu Apollo announced the release of its next-generation intelligent map product, Baidu MapAuto 6.5, at the 2023 China Auto Forum.

This groundbreaking map is the first of its kind in China, featuring a full 3D lane-level map and enabling seamless human-machine co-driving experiences across various scenarios. Additionally, it offers comprehensive data services.

Baidu MapAuto 6.5 leverages Baidu's integrated data collection loop, incorporating data from vehicles, on-board systems, and roadside sensors. With billions of parameters, the map production efficiency has increased exponentially, facilitating rapid updates of Baidu Map data. This latest release provides powerful and comprehensive data services.

Thanks to its robust data service capabilities, Baidu MapAuto 6.5 currently offers SD (Standard Definition), LD (Lane Definition), and HD (High Definition) data. SD data covers the entire country and has already been integrated into ten million vehicles. Baidu's LD light map data service, with lane-level topology, complex scenario geometry, experiential layers, and dynamic information layers, achieves updates at the celestial level. LD maps have been implemented in multiple vehicle models so far.

Furthermore, as the first-of-its-kind, full 3D lane-level product in China, Baidu MapAuto 6.5 delivers comprehensive 3D lane-level navigation and immersive human-machine co-driving experiences across all road networks nationwide. By utilizing different rendering techniques such as HD, LD, and SD+BEV perception, Baidu MapAuto 6.5 achieves full 3D lane-level rendering for all roads in the country, providing users with a more immersive navigation experience.
