Hesai Technology joins NVIDIA’s Omniverse ecosystem

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese LiDAR manufacturer, Hesai Technology (Hesai), announced today its official integration into the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem through a deepened collaboration with NVIDIA.

This development allows automotive manufacturers and autonomous driving companies' to directly access Hesai's high-precision LiDAR models via NVIDIA DRIVE Sim. They can now obtain physically realistic and highly-simulated sensor data in digital twin environments for research, testing, and validation purposes.

NVIDIA DriveWorks SDK offers a comprehensive suite of modules, developer tools, and reference application libraries, serving as the foundation for software development in autonomous vehicles. As LiDAR sensor data plays a critical role in autonomous driving, leveraging DriveWorks enables developers to harness the powerful computing capabilities of the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, optimizing the processing of data collected by Hesai's LiDAR. This, in turn, accelerates the development of autonomous driving systems and expedites the integration of LiDAR into vehicles.

Simulation serves as an efficient means to expedite the sensor integration process. NVIDIA DRIVE Sim is a simulation tool built on the Omniverse platform, employing high-fidelity, physics-based simulation techniques to generate numerous real-world digital twin scenarios. This provides a virtual testbed for training vehicle perception systems, testing vehicle decision-making processes, and control logic, enabling developers to execute large-scale testing and validation.

With Hesai's high-precision LiDAR model now directly accessible in the NVIDIA DRIVE Sim software, developers can obtain point cloud feedback from the digital world. This assists in tasks such as training, optimization, and testing of point cloud integration algorithms, ultimately accelerating development processes and reducing development costs.
