XPeng's XNGP intelligent driving system to cover 50 cities by end of 2023

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese new energy vehicle startup XPeng announced on Monday its plans to see its XNGP intelligent driving system deployed in 50 cities by the end of this year. 

Additionally, XPeng is actively developing capabilities for its XNGP system in non-mapped areas.

Following the success of the XPILOT system, XPeng introduced the second-generation intelligent driving assistance system, XNGP. Built upon the foundation of the first-generation XPILOT system, XNGP enhances features such as Urban NGP for intelligent driving in city conditions and an upgraded version of Highway NGP, along with the VPA memory parking feature. Presently, the Urban NGP and Highway NGP functions of XPeng's XNGP system are available only with maps. 

XPeng's vision for "non-mapped” technology implies operating without HD maps, relying solely on the vehicle's intrinsic perceptual components and real-time perception capabilities. This approach enables the vehicle to comprehend an unknown environment, self-orient, and autonomously interpret both static surroundings and dynamic targets even in the absence of defined lane models, road components, road attributes, and road environmental features.

Since 2021, XPeng has been dedicated to the R&D of XNGP technology based on BEV+Transformer. In October 2022, the company unveiled its advanced perception architecture, XNet deep vision neural network. Powered by XNet's robust visual perception and imagination abilities, XPeng vehicles can comprehend the static world and track dynamic objects autonomously. This innovation ensures that Urban NGP and Highway NGP can achieve the same level of performance even in non-mapped scenarios, enabling seamless transitions between various driving contexts.
