Polestar to deploy Mobileye's autonomous driving technology onto Polestar 4

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Geely-backed electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar and the autonomous driving technology provider Mobileye today jointly disclosed that they will introduce Mobileye's Chauffeur™ AV platform-driven autonomous driving technology into the Polestar 4, as well as potential future vehicle models.

The production and integration of this platform will be undertaken by ECARX, the smart mobility solution developer backed by Geely.

The Polestar 4, equipped with Mobileye SuperVision, has commenced pre-orders in China today and is slated for global release in 2024. The vehicle has integrated the cutting-edge Mobileye SuperVision-based advanced driver assistance system from its inception, laying a robust foundation for the progressive evolution of autonomous driving technology within the Polestar 4.

This renewed collaboration will allow Polestar models featuring the Chauffeur system to achieve hands-free and eyes-off autonomous driving capabilities on highways. Additionally, in environments that meet operational design domain criteria, hands-free autonomous driving functionality will be available.

Both SuperVision and Chauffeur leverage the Mobileye EyeQ™ system-on-chip, driving strategies built on the Responsibility Sensitive Safety™ (RSS™) framework, a comprehensive 360-degree surround-view camera perception system, and the Mobileye Roadbook™, which is fueled by Road Experience Management™ (REM™) data.

The Chauffeur system, enhanced upon the foundation of SuperVision, incorporates the latest EyeQ6 system-on-chip, next-generation active radar, and LiDAR sensors. These advancements introduce an additional layer of perception for achieving "hands-free and eyes-off" autonomous driving, underscoring how Mobileye's existing "hands-free" intelligent driving system (SuperVision™) paves the way for full autonomy.
