Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone introduces new autonomous bus routes

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 13, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Zhuhai city, Guangdong Province (referred to as the "Cooperation Zone") unveiled two new autonomous driving demonstration bus routes.

The two routes include the "Hengqin Port - Hengqin Civic Center" route and the "Xiangyun Road Parking Lot - Government Service Center Shuttle" route.

These new bus routes traverse various residential, commercial, and administrative areas within the Cooperation Zone, facilitating transportation connections between different clusters and functional zones. This initiative caters to the commuting and diverse travel needs of residents from both Zhuhai and Macao, further enhancing the comprehensive transportation system within the Cooperation Zone and boosting regional economic activity.

In the next phase, the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Cooperation Zone will align with the actual development needs of intelligent connected vehicles in Hengqin to continue enriching and optimizing autonomous driving shuttle service routes. This endeavor aims to promote the multi-scenario application of intelligent connected vehicles. As the number of autonomous driving bus routes continues to grow, the Cooperation Zone is committed to achieving smarter, more convenient, and greener modes of transportation, providing residents with an improved commuting experience.

Furthermore, the Cooperation Zone officially issued a regulation dedicated to intelligent connected vehicle road test and demonstrations on September 5, 2023. These regulations, comprising 51 articles, encompass general principles, scope of application, application requirements for road testing and demonstration, road testing and demonstration management, network and data security protection, and more. Importantly, these regulations provide specific conditions for conducting demonstration applications (operations) and remote high-level autonomous driving road testing and demonstration applications within the Cooperation Zone. This pragmatic approach accelerates the validation of the commercial value of intelligent connected vehicle autonomous driving technology within the Cooperation Zone.
