XPENG to develop global XNGP intelligent assisted driving system in 2025
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG announced during the XPENG X9 launch event that its XNGP (XPENG Navigation Guided Pilot) intelligent assisted driving system's urban smart driving capabilities, initially available in 52 cities, will now extend to cover a total of 243 cities in China, marking a substantial expansion.

XPENG aims to achieve nationwide coverage of major urban road networks with XNGP by the end of 2024. Additionally, the company plans to initiate the development of high-speed NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) for global markets in 2024, followed by the global development of XNGP in 2025.
The current XNGP system's navigation-assisted driving capabilities encompass the entire national highway network in China, covering 21 provinces, 3 municipalities, 9 provincial capitals, 150 prefecture-level cities, and 81 county-level cities. This comprehensive coverage, now spanning 90% of Max version XPENG vehicle owners' cities, amounts to an available distance of 569,000 kilometers.
XPENG’s Chairman, He Xiaopeng, emphasized the company's commitment to autonomous driving, highlighting a robust AI R&D team exceeding 3,000 members. With an annual R&D investment of 3.5 billion yuan, XPENG aims to make intelligent driving safer, more convenient, and efficient. The strategy includes achieving nationwide coverage of major urban road networks with XNGP by 2024.
XPENG's strategy involves a price difference of 20,000 yuan between the standard and intelligent versions of the same vehicle models, compared to other companies with differences ranging from 20,000 yuan to 40,000 yuan. The company is actively implementing cost reduction measures to enhance cost-effectiveness and expand the marginal effects of hardware configurations.
