Another 12 cities begin to issue license plates for new energy vehicles

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- From November 20, another 12 cities in our country has begun use special license plates for new energy vehicles, including Baoding of Hebei Province, Changchun of Jilin Province, Hefei of Anhui Province, Chongqing and Kunming of Yunnan Province. In the first half of next year, the special license plates will be available in all domestic cities.

Actually, from December 1, the Ministry of Public Security has launched a pilot program in five cities including Shanghai, Nanjing and Shenzhen. Those cities can issue special license plates for new energy vehicles. Up to now, more than 110,000 new energy plates have been issued.

Compared with common vehicle license plates, new energy license plates highlight the color of green. The plates for small-size new energy vehicles use gradient green while those for large new energy vehicles use green and yellow. The new energy vehicle plate is 40mm longer than common one.

According to Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the popularization of new energy vehicle plates will help to implement relevant policies. The plates will highlight the features of new energy vehicles and to speed the development of new energy vehicles. The distinct difference from common plates will help to implement transportation management policies to facilitate the travelling service and tax discount of new energy vehicles.

Cui said that new energy vehicle plates will be of great significance to stimulate consumption. Even though the subsidiary began to phase out, daily convenience and road right will be much more important to consumers.
