Shanghai (Gasgoo)- ARCFOX, a premium car brand under BAIC's NEV unit BJEV, will see its first mass-produced model roll off the production line in August 2020, according to a local report citing a statement revealed in middle January at the BAIC BJEV Global Partners Conference (BJEV GPC 2020).

The yet-to-be-launched model is the production version of the ARCFOX ECF Concept SUV, which made its world debut at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. Based on the brand's independently-developed IMC (Intelligent Module Criterion) platform, the five-seater mid-sized all-electric SUV is likely to be dubbed MARK 5, according to the mark at the vehicle's rear.

The MARK 5 possesses a silhouette that is very similar to the concept model, while displays more practical essence as it will be frequently used in users' day-to-day journeys. The closed-off grille, which was seen at the concept's front face, has been hereby reserved. Some differences are still evident: the triangle-styled daytime running lights are adopted rather than the concept's C-shaped lamps; the front fenders where the concept features camera rearview mirrors are now equipped with traditional one.

The C-pillar featuring the same color as that of the car body is quite an eye-catcher for the concept. However, it failed to be retained at the mass-produced product. The “hidden” door handles are designed in an attempt to offer a cleaner look.

The MARK 5 measures 4,788mm long, 1,940mm wide and 1,683mm; its wheelbase spans 2,915mm. Besides, the new SUV is provided with 235/50 R19 tires.

Two electric motors can continuously drive both axles with respective output of up to 160kW. In addition, the vehicles is expected to reach a top speed of 180km/h. Powering the SUV will be a ternary-lithium battery pack developed by RiseSun MGL.
