Volkswagen-backed CAMS launches first supercharging station in Beijing

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CAMS, a Volkswagen-based one-stop charging solution provider, launched on September 16 its first supercharging station, and put four proprietary charging stations into operation in the meantime, according to a posting on the company's WeChat account.

Located at Jianwai SOHO, Chaoyang District of Beijing, the supercharging station has six 120kW two-gun DC charging piles. It is also the first charging station CAMS jointly develops with Volkswagen brand.

According to CAMS, it equips most charging spots at the supercharging station with intelligent parking locks. Through the “CAMS PLUS” App, a car owner can know the accurate availability of charging spots, so that he can make an appointment for the free spot via a simple click on his mobile phone. With 30 minutes of reservation, the car owner can get the parking spot unlocked through the App or by scanning the code at the spot.

A user can enjoy the plug-and-play service without scanning code as long as he links its “CAMS PLUS” account to the models designated by the App if his vehicle is one of them.

Besides, the output of the 120kW DC charging pile is allowed to be adjusted according to users' needs, so as to ensure a high charging efficiency. CAMS said it will launch chargers with a higher maximum output of 180kW.

Headquartered in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, CAMS was jointly founded by Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., Ltd., China First Automobile Co., Ltd., Wanbang Digital Energy and JAC Motors in May 2019. 

CAMS is moving faster to build its charging network. When the report is prepared, it has set up a total of 40 charging stations in Beijing, Shenzhen and Chengdu. Moreover, it is vigorously expanding its charging service network by offering rental service and giving charging access to vehicle models under cooperation.
