Car and City: August 2021 registrations of XPeng models
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In August 2021, a total of 6,935 consumers in China bought insurance for XPeng's new vehicles, representing a 157.1% year-on-year hike, while showing a 10% month-on-month decrease, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
In terms of Aug. registrations of
China's domestically-built new energy vehicle (NEV) models, XPeng
transcended NIO to be the runner-up Chinese NEV startup and ranked tenth
among car brands in the world's largest auto market.
The monthly insurance registrations of the XPeng P7 edged down 1.6% from a month earlier to 6,000 units in August. The volume made the P7 rank ninth among China-made NEV models and only follow the Li ONE among the startup-made models.
Regarding car ownership, 5,512 and 471 P7s
were registered by private and B2B users respectively in August.
Besides, 17 units were bought for car rental service.
Guangzhou,
where the startup is headquartered, was the No.1 city in August in
terms of the XPeng P7's registrations. The second to fourth places were
occupied by Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The top 4 cities are all
within the so-called first-tier city group in China. Besides, there were
three cities, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing, recording the P7
registrations between 200 and 500 units last month.
Last month, the XPeng G3 had a registration volume of 859 in August, posting a 46.6% month-on-month slump. Private users contributed to 68.8% of the Aug. G3 registrations.
Guangzhou
also topped the other cities in China regarding the Aug. registrations
of the G3. Shanghai and Beijing were still among the top 3 cities.
Besides, Guiyang and Zhengzhou, capitals of Guizhou and Henan provinces,
ranked fourth and fifth. Shenzhen failed to enter the top 10 cities
