Car and City: March 2022 registrations of XPeng models

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In March 2021, the monthly registrations of XPeng's three mass-produced models hit a record high of 15,491 units, surging 151.5% year on year, while also rocketing 227.2% month on month, according to the data compiled by Gasgoo Auto Research Institute (GARI).

In terms of March registrations of China's domestically-built new energy passenger vehicle (NEPV) models, XPeng topped the other Chinese NEV startups and ranked sixth among auto brands in the world's largest auto market.

As the startup's biggest sales contributor, the P7's monthly registrations reached a new high of 9,166 units. Among made-in-China NEPV models, the P7 ranked 9th by March registrations, while outperformed other models owned by Chinese NEV startups.

As for regional distribution, Foshan, Hangzhou, and Chengdu were the top 3 cities in China by March registrations of the XPeng P7. Guangzhou, where the startup is headquartered, only ranked sixth with 466 P7s registered last month. Both Shanghai and Beijing failed to entered the top 10 cities list.

With 4,424 units registered, the P5 accounted for 28.6% of XPeng's registrations last month, representing a 117.7% year-on-year spike. As of March 2022, the cumulative registrations of the XPeng P5 added up to 26,311 units.

Foshan and Guangzhou were the top 2 cities in China by March registrations of the P5. Besides, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Shenzhen all had over 200 P5s registered last month. Among the top 10 cities by the P5 registrations, four were provincial capitals, namely, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Chengdu.

The registrations of the XPeng G3 edged down 2.2% from a year ago to 1,901 units in March, 97.3% of which were contributed by the G3i. In term of car ownership, 1,655 and 184 G3s were registered by private and B2B users respectively.

Foshan and Guangzhou also occupied the first two spots among Chinese cities by March registrations of the G3. Shanghai was the second runner-up. Ranking ninth and tenth, both Beijing and Shenzhen saw their G3 registrations reach 66 units in March.
