Henan province eyes 100 billion yuan of annual hydrogen industry production value by 2025

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China's Henan province expects the annual production value of its hydrogen industry to exceed 100 billion yuan ($14.373 billion) by 2025, according to a document recently issued by Henan provincial government.

The document clarifies the mid-/long-term (2022-2035) planning and goals for the development of Henan's hydrogen industry. As of 2025, Henan aims to build a basically complete hydrogen industrial chain with over 100 enterprises contained, according to the document. In the meantime, the province plans to put more than 5,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on roads, gain the capability of supplying 30,000-tonne automobile-used hydrogen per year, and reduce the terminal hydrogen price to 30 yuan ($4.3) per kilogram or below by 2025.

Moreover, the government intends to develop three to five green hydrogen demonstration projects by 2025. Meanwhile, construction of the Zheng-Bian-Luo-Pu (Zhengzhou-Kaifeng-Luoyang-Puyang) Hydrogen Corridor will be basically completed then, and the Zhengzhou-led fuel cell vehicle demonstration city cluster will get marked application achievements.

As the document revealed, Henan province is currently able to produce around 550,000 tonnes of by-product hydrogen annually from such industries as coke, caustic soda, synthesis ammonia, and methyl alcohol, indicating it can provide ample and low-priced hydrogen-making sources for the initial development of the hydrogen industry.
