The information on the official website shows that BYD plans to use the A5 factory to conduct two new processes (double flanging and inkjet) for new-type lithium ion batteries. Upon completion of the project, the new facility is anticipated to process 72 million units of new-type batteries per year.
It is noteworthy that the expansion project will not affect the current battery production volume.
Located in Songjiang district, Shanghai city, Shanghai BYD's factory specializes in the manufacturing of lithium ion batteries and solar cell modules, and the process of non-ferrous metal composite materials and new types of alloy materials.
Shanghai BYD currently has a product lineup that covers high-capacity lithium ion batteries, plastic shells, solar cell modules, reused lithium battery modules, small-sized energy storage system, new-type lithium ion batteries, and magnesium/aluminium alloy components.
