Tesla recalls 435,132 Shanghai-made Model 3s, Model Ys in China
Beijing (Gasgoo)- US electric vehicle maker Tesla recently filed for a recall plan involving some locally-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China, according to an announcement issued by China's State Administration of Market Regulation on December 1.

As specified by the Regulation, effective today, Tesla is recalling a total of 435,132 vehicles sold in China, including 142,277 domestically-made Model 3s produced between December 27, 2020 and November 7, 2022, as well as a total of 292,855 Model Ys manufactured between January 1, 2021 and November 11, 2022.
The recall was issued due to a malfunctioning software that controls the vehicles’ position lamps. In the process of vehicle activation from the parking status, the software may make errors when initializing the internal parameters, resulting in the failure of the ignite the position lamps on one or both sides of the rearend of the vehicle. In dark environments, the occasional failure of the position lights will reduce the vehicles’ visibility to others, and increase the risk of vehicle collision in extreme cases, which is a potential safety hazard.
Vehicles fit in the description will be eligible for an complementary OTA upgrade performed by Tesla.
