Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese metropolis Guangzhou expects its annual scale of fuel cell vehicle (FCV) industry to exceed 10 billion yuan ($1.433 billion) by 2025, according to a working plan this week issued by Guangzhou New Energy Vehicle Development Work Group for the demonstration and applications of FCVs.

Under the working plan, by the end of 2025, Guangzhou wishes to take the lead in China in building a safe, highly efficient, economic and normative route for FCV commercial application with no fewer than 2,500 FCVs deployed across the city.

Regarding the infrastructure deployment, Guangzhou aims to build over 50 hydrogen-refueling stations, and form a stable supply system capable of producing around 30,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year inside the city and supplying 10,000-tonne car-used hydrogen annually from the facilities outside of the city by the end of 2025.

Besides, Guangzhou's authorities will provide subsidies for the entities who put FCVs into pilot operation or work on R&D of FCV-related core components, according to the document.

Local government expects to gradually lower FCV's usage costs by means of technology innovation, local manufacturing of equipment, innovation in business models, etc. Hydrogen refueling stations should lower the terminal hydrogen sales prices to no more than 35 yuan/kg by 2023 and to no more than 30 yuan/kg by 2024.
