FAW Group’s Hongqi releases photos of E202 SUV concept

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Hongqi, the premium car brand of FAW Group, released the images of the E202’s concept model via its WeChat account.

Adopting the latest design philosophy of Hongqing New Energy Vehicle (“Hongqing NEV”), the E202 will carry such technical facilities as the smart all-wheel-drive system, air suspension system, the HAC advanced intelligent driving safety chassis system, 800-volt ultra-fast charging system, etc.

In terms of exterior, the E202’s front face gets a sealed-off grille with a glowing “HONGQI” logo in the middle. The LED light cluster presents a slender shape and, together with the vertically arranged LED daytime running lights, creates a futuristic look.

As a B-segment SUV, the E202 features a sleek body design paired with electronic exterior mirrors and large two-tone wheels, delivering a pretty sporty visual effect.

At the rear, the E202 is equipped with a spoiler and a through-type taillight cluster. The illuminated logo in the center corresponds to that of the front. The internal light source layout of the taillights on both sides is also highly recognizable when lit.

On Jan. 8, 2023, FAW Group released its New Energy Vehicle Global Strategy for Hongqi brand.

“By establishing and developing four sub-brands including ‘New Energy Vehicle (NEV), Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Luxury Vehicle, and Sports Car’, FAW will further improve Hongqi’s overall brand architecture in the future,” said Xu Liuping, chairman of the group.

He added that Hongqi expects to realize annual sales of 1 million units by 2025, including more than 500,000 new energy vehicles; by 2030, the annual sales will exceed 1.5 million units, of which new energy vehicles will become the biggest contributors to the sales.

Regarding major new energy vehicles, Hongqi introduced three NEV models under the new NEV strategy, namely, the E001 B-segment BEV, the E202 B-segment all-electric SUV, and the E702 luxury flagship electric sedan. Of them, the E202 will make its debut in late 2023.
