CATL’s subsidiary, Maritime Silk Road Highway ally on battery swap project

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CATL GLP Digital Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (“CATL GLP”) on Mar. 16 signed an agreement with Fujian Maritime Silk Road Highway New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (“Maritime Silk Road Highway”) for the cooperation on a battery swapping project for heavy-duty trucks, according to a post on CATL’s WeChat account.

Per the agreement, both parties will fully leverage the integration advantages of "high-speed + new energy" resources to invest in the construction and operation management of battery swapping stations dedicated to electric heavy-duty trucks.

The first phase of the project will pilot four electric battery swapping stations dedicated to heavy-duty trucks at the Changle and Luoyangjiang rest stops along expressways, providing timely energy replenishment services for electric heavy-duty trucks traveling between Ningde and Xiamen cities, and solving the "range anxiety" and "recharging anxiety" for the users of new energy heavy-duty trucks.

In the future, the duo will closely work on the high-quality and sustainable development of the expressway-based new energy vehicle industry, jointly promoting the comprehensive electrification of heavy-duty trucks.

According to the Chinese corporate information inquiry platform Tianyancha, CATL GLP is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL GLP Battery Technology Co., Ltd., a joint venture between CATL and Global Logistic Properties Ltd. (“GLP”), a leading global business builder, developer, and operator of logistics real estate, data centers, renewable energy and related technologies.

Maritime Silk Road Highway is majority owned by Fujian Expressway Energy Development Co., Ltd., which is entirely controlled by the state-owned Fujian Expressway Group Co., Ltd.
