CATL, China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology to build joint lab for lithium battery safety

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, Chinese power battery giant CATL and China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology ("CAST") held a signing ceremony in Ningde city, Fujian province for a framework agreement on establishing a joint laboratory focused on lithium battery safety, according to a press release CATL released on Monday via its WeChat account.

This strategic partnership outlines a commitment to continual collaboration in such areas as experimental validation, policy standards, technology innovation, the development of an innovation ecosystem, and talent cultivation.

Li Yu, president of the CAST, said the lithium battery safety joint lab provides CASTC with a premium platform to continuously strengthen independent innovation capabilities, address key core technologies, and apply research findings related to lithium battery transportation and airport electrification.

Zeng Rong, CATL's co-president of Supply Chain and Operation System, highlighted the company's sustained dedication to product quality, striving to develop lithium batteries at a "nuclear safety" level. The newly operational third-generation intelligent factory further underscores CATL's commitment to this objective. Built on their longstanding collaboration in lithium battery transport, the cooperation through this joint laboratory is poised to deepen research on lithium battery safety standards, facilitate the implementation of relevant measures, and open up new frontiers for higher-quality lithium battery applications.
