Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 22, Zhongan Energy (Anhui) Co., Ltd. ("Zhongan Energy") and Wuhan NIO Energy Co., Ltd. ("NIO Energy") inked a strategic cooperation agreement in Hefei, aiming to team up on building electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery swapping networks, according to NIO's press release.

The agreement encompasses an extensive range of cooperative efforts, including standardizing battery specifications, innovating in battery swap and EV charging technologies, constructing and operating an EV charging and battery swapping network, managing battery assets, as well as collaborating on new electric power systems, and the supply chain related to the manufacturing of energy storage, EV charging, and battery swapping equipment.

On January 11 of this year, with strong support from the Anhui Provincial Government, Zhongan Energy was officially launched, tasked with the unified advancement of EV charging and battery swap services across the entire province of Anhui. This initiative aims to create an open and shared network for the energy storage, EV charging, and battery swapping of new energy vehicles. On the same day, a strategic partnership was formed among WENERGY Group, Anhui Transportation Holding Group, and NIO to support the newly established Zhongan Energy in building 1,000 stations that integrate energy storage, EV charging, and battery swapping features.

The latest agreement between Zhongan Energy and NIO Energy is built upon their commitment to jointly advancing the construction of energy storage, EV charging, and battery swapping systems, as well as a battery asset management system.

Looking ahead, Zhongan Energy and NIO Energy will leverage their collaboration to enhance the charging infrastructure in Anhui, extend their reach across the Yangtze River Delta, and set their sights on national expansion. The partners aim to orderly promote the construction of 1,000 integrated stations, creating an open and shared energy network and an efficient battery asset management and operation system. They plan to innovate in battery swapping models, support Battery as a Service (BaaS), and establish a comprehensive power battery lifecycle management system.

Before this partnership, NIO had already deployed 200 expressway battery swap stations in the Yangtze River Delta, ensuring coverage in 92 cities in this region.
