Although built on a unibody platform, the TAI 7 carries the visual hallmarks of a traditional off-road SUV with its squared-off stance and robust detailing. A distinctive front fascia integrates double-layer headlights that glow in twin "L" shapes, while unpainted bumpers and side skirts reinforce its rugged image.

At the rear, the TAI 7 introduces a novel design feature: an external "backpack." Unlike the typical spare tire mount, this compact add-on serves as a storage box, offering an additional 32.5 liters of usable space.

Measuring 4,999 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,865 mm tall with a 2,920 mm wheelbase, the SUV is offered in seven exterior colors.

Inside, the TAI 7 adopts a tiered dual-layer floating dashboard, blending style with practicality through open storage beneath the center console. The cockpit is anchored by a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, paired with a column-mounted shifter.

Standard features include ventilated and heated seats, power adjustment for the front row, a head-up display, and dual wireless charging pads. Higher trims add a mini fridge, a premium 20-speaker audio system, and a fragrance diffuser.

Marketed as a "tech-driven spacious SUV," the TAI 7 delivers an interior efficiency ratio of 70.9%. Its boxy design allows nearly 1.1 meters of headroom in both rows, while cargo capacity expands from 970 liters to as much as 1,880 liters with the second row folded.

Driver-assist technologies are tiered across the lineup. The all-wheel-drive Ultra trim carries the DiPilot 300 system that integrates LiDAR and NVIDIA's Orin-X chip, offering advanced NOA functions for both highways and city driving, plus full-scenario parking assistance. It also offers an optional in-car drone system. Other variants use the DiPilot 100 system with a triple-camera setup, mainly supporting highway NOA, with city navigation expected via future OTA updates.

The TAI 7's core lies in its powertrain: a next-generation DM plug-in hybrid system paired with a 1.5T engine.

The two-wheel-drive variant carries a single 200 kW motor, while the all-wheel-drive model combines a 160 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor for a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds. Battery packs of 26.6 kWh and 35.6 kWh deliver battery-powered ranges from 135 km to 200 km, with a 60-liter fuel tank extending total driving distance.

Underneath, the SUV rides on a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. Higher trims add BYD's DiSus-C intelligent damping system with road preview and anti-motion sickness functions. All trims come standard with tire blowout stability control, ensuring safe stops at speeds up to 140 km/h.
