CATL, HyperStrong sign decade-long strategic pact to deepen collaboration in energy storage
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese energy-storage integrator HyperStrong recently entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the battery giant CATL, setting the stage for one of the sector's largest long-term battery-cell supply arrangements, according to a press release it issued on Nov. 17 via its WeChat account.
Under the pact, HyperStrong will purchase no less than 200 GWh of battery cells from CATL between January 2026 and December 2028, a volume designed to secure the company's rapid scale-up in grid-level storage deployments.

Beyond cell procurement, the agreement establishes a long-term coordination framework running through 2035. The two companies will refresh their joint business targets on a rolling three-year basis, with each update formalized through an annual memorandum of cooperation. The mechanism is intended to give both sides clearer visibility into future demand and supply planning as the global storage market expands.
HyperStrong and CATL also plan to broaden their collaboration into new business models. Potential initiatives include joint investment funds for energy-storage projects, as well as an integrated project-development and operations platform covering development, investment, operations and maintenance. The companies will additionally explore co-procurement of components for power-conversion systems, aiming to streamline the supply chain and improve resource efficiency across their shared ecosystem.
HyperStrong, one of China's leading providers of energy-storage system (ESS) solutions, has long been a close downstream partner to CATL. CATL said the extended ten-year cooperation will deepen their complementary strengths in R&D, smart manufacturing and global market expansion, accelerating the adoption of large-scale energy storage in emerging power-system architectures.
HyperStrong added that the agreement cements a stable long-term partnership that will allow the two companies to integrate resources more efficiently and strengthen their competitive edge. Looking ahead, both sides aim to step up joint innovation, tackle technical bottlenecks in large-scale energy storage and support the sector's industrial upgrading—contributing "China's strength" to the global clean-energy transition.
