Production Part Approval Process

Production part approval Process (PPAP) defines genetic requirements for production part approval, including production and bulk material. Its purpose is to determine if all customer engineering design records and specification requirements are properly understood by the supplier and that the process has the potential to produce consistently meeting these requirements during an actual production run at the quoted production rate. The suppliers of standard catalogue production or service parts shall comply with PPAP unless formally waived by the customer. Tooling should be maintained for standard catalogue items as long as items are offered or stated as being available. And also the suppliers shall obtain full approval from the customer product approval activity for new product parts, correction and modification plan of previous parts and other specific situations.
