Toyota bets on yen's run continuing

Toyota Motor Corp. will revise its assumed exchange rate for the second half of fiscal 2010 from the current 90 yen against the dollar to 80 yen, it has been learned, in a move that shows the firm believes the yen will continue to ride high.

Toyota to recall 1.66 million vehicles globally

Toyota Motor Corp said on Thursday it would recall 1.66 million Avalons, Highlanders and other vehicles, bringing its total for worldwide recalls in the past year to about 14 million. Most of the 1.66 million recalls announced on Thursday are in Japan and the United States, Toyota's top market, in the latest blow to the reputation of a company once considered the gold standard of reliability.

Hyundai & Kia Motors Beat Toyota in Europe

Korea's top carmaker the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group is on course to attain a bigger market share in Europe beating out Japan's Toyota for the seventh consecutive month. According to the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association Korea's two automakers sold over 59-thousand vehicles in September, for a 4.8 percent market share, and a zero.3 percent hike compared to a year earlier.
