Tesla attends fourth China International Import Expo
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Tesla shows its achievements of Gigafactory Shanghai at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai to offer a glimpse of the factory. The American automaker has attended the expo for four times.
It is the first time for Tesla to showcase such real objects as body in white, stamping parts, batteries, and electric motors by various means, including live workshop video and intensive reading board.
The manufacturing line uses the Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) developed by Tesla itself. Featuring human-machine interaction, intelligent identification and traceability function, the system can be applied to vehicle manufacturing, battery workshop, electric motor for craftmanship improvement, engineering design and quality control. In addition, every process is covered by highly reliable industrial network for equipment automation, wireless connection of production equipment, production information data collection, human-computer interaction, intelligent decision-making and so on.
Tesla uses a 6000-ton die-casting machine, the largest in the world, to realize integrated manufacturing of the rear body, which usually used to be composed of more than 70 parts. The process improves products’ performance and reduce the weight by 13% as well as saving time and cost.
Tesla’s factory in Shanghai has achieved a parts localization of 90% while it manages to deeply practice Tesla's sustainable environmental protection concept.
