NIO deploys 1,011 battery swapping stations in China as of July 6

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 6, NIO put 12 battery swapping stations into operation, increasing the total number to 1,011 in China, the automaker announced at the NIO Power Day 2022 held on the same day.

Notably, the significant 1,000th station is located in Lhasa, capital of China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

At the event, NIO stressed that some targets it announced one year ago remain unchanged. By the end of 2025, NIO will have over 4,000 NIO battery swap stations worldwide with more than 3,000 in China.

In 2025, over 90% NIO users will be living in the “Swap Station District Houses”, which refer to residences within a 3 km radius from a NIO battery swap station.

In addition, the startup aims to fulfill the deployment of a “nine vertical + nine horizontal expressways + 19 city clusters” inter-city expressway battery swapping network in China by 2025.

To be specific, the ambitious network will contain nine north-south expressways, nine east-west expressways, and 19 city clusters.

Notably, the battery swapping deployment set for 2025 encompasses the “five vertical + seven horizontal expressways + four city clusters” battery swapping network, which was completed in late June this year.

Meanwhile, NIO revealed it expects to build a total of 168 destination charging routes by 2025.

As for the technology and product updates, the automaker said its second-generation multifunction service car, which integrates charging, repair, and maintenance functions, has already been put into operation.

NIO also introduced the 500kW super-fast charging pile, which is expected to be deployed in both China and Europe around the end of 2022.

NIO previewed some technical fruits, including its third-generation battery swapping station, which has gone into the final R&D stage and is set to be launched over the next half year. What's more, the yet-to-be-launched 800-volt battery pack and supporting battery swapping system will be open to all industry players, the company said.
