Tina's Talk | BYD celebrates milestone with 5 millionth new energy vehicle produced

On August 9, I arrived in Shenzhen to witness the milestone of BYD's 5 millionth new energy vehicle rolling off the assembly line. After entering the venue, I saw the extensive lineup of 13 new energy vehicles from multiple Chinese car brands stretching across the distant exhibition area. What a spectacular sight! In that moment, I couldn't help but perceive BYD's broad-minded approach.

From the first vehicle to the five millionth, BYD's journey spanned two decades. It's a period marked by speed and significant accomplishments. As I stood amidst the scene, observing BYD Chairman Mr.Wang Chuanfu's reflection upon the arduous path BYD had traversed, his voice occasionally choked with emotion. Especially when he reminded that in 2019, when BYD achieved a net profit of 1.6 billion RMB while investing a staggering 8.4 billion RMB in R&D, it felt like assuming the role of a solitary warrior, boldly committing everything and demonstrating its unwavering dedication with an spirit of "early investment, daring investment, resolute investment". It is all for the sake of proving the fundamental question: Can Chinese automobiles truly succeed? With twenty years hard working, BYD has proved that "BYD can, new energy vehicle can, and Chinese OEMs can."

However, BYD's narrative extends beyond the retelling of its own story, it also narrates the arduous journey of China's domestic OEMs' rise and the hard-earned accomplishments achieved now.

Today, China is in the leading position of exporting new energy vehicles, with a global market share of over 60% in production and sales. Besides, China’s new energy vehicle patents has accounted for 70% of worldwide disclosures, and the top six Chinese battery suppliers constitute 63% of global battery installations. These achievements truly stand as a testament to the collective dedication of all of us in the Chinese automotive industry.
