Geely, Zhejiang Government sign new agreement to build world-class auto cluster
On March 13, the Zhejiang Provincial Government signed a new strategic framework agreement with Geely Holding Group. The agreement aims to deepen collaboration in technological innovation and industrial development, with a focus on building a world-class automotive and auto-parts manufacturing cluster.
Leveraging Zhejiang's advantages in business environment, industrial ecosystem, and resource support, alongside Geely's strengths in intelligent manufacturing, new energy technologies, and connected vehicles, the two sides will expand cooperation and promote the high-end, intelligent, and green transformation of the province's automotive industry.
Geely serves as the“chain leader”of Zhejiang's automotive industry. The provincial government and Geely previously signed a strategic agreement in 2022 to strengthen government–enterprise collaboration and accelerate digital and green upgrades across the automotive supply chain.
New generation Xiaomi SU7 to launch on March 19
On March 16, Xiaomi announced that the new generation of the Xiaomi SU7 will officially launch on March 19.
According to Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, the upgraded model has undergone two years of refinement since the first-generation SU7, with major improvements in safety, driving dynamics, intelligent features, and luxury quality.
Pre-orders for the new SU7 opened in early January 2026, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 229,900–309,900. The model features upgrades in design, interior, intelligent driving, and safety. It is powered by the V6s Plus motor, offering up to 690 horsepower in the Max version, and uses a silicon-carbide high-voltage platform. The CLTC range reaches up to 902 km, while LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radar come standard across the lineup.
Didi Autonomous Driving and GAC Aion's Robotaxi R2 obtains road test permit in Beijing
On March 15, the new Robotaxi R2, jointly developed by Didi Autonomous Driving and GAC Aion, received a road testing permit in Beijing for intelligent connected vehicles.
This follows the vehicle's earlier approval for road testing in Guangzhou in January, enabling the Level-4 autonomous vehicle to conduct tests in both major cities. The milestone will further validate the system's performance in complex urban environments.
The Robotaxi R2 was delivered earlier in January 2026 and integrates Didi's full-stack L4 autonomous driving technology with GAC Aion's intelligent manufacturing capabilities. Designed specifically for fully driverless scenarios, the model aims to improve system reliability, significantly reduce costs, and deliver upgraded cabin experience and autonomous driving performance.
